Bigger problem will be setting up a good working antenna system. At best your set up will be sight line communications. The C6 really offers a very poor ground plane for an antenna.
I have no experience with a CB in a C6 but plenty in big rigs and cars near 40 years.
I am not so unsure you would be better off with a hand held unit just because of simplicity and I do not think you will get much better performance with the other. Some possibly but not like a center roof mount on a metal car or SUV.
May I ask what do you expect for performance?

Most of our club members use the Cobra 75 unit with all controls on the microphone, some (me) use an external speaker also, or wire up to use earbuds for when the top is off/down.
For power, I got a cig lighter plug and installed it onto the CB power wires, the junction box is behind my seat and the power wires run up into the console where I use the power outlet. Wires are hidden.
Firestik makes no-ground-plane antennas that work well for Corvettes, you can buy the antenna and license plate mount from Mid America, Ecklers, etc. They are often out of stock, so do it early. Or buy just the antenna from Firestik and make your own L-shaped bracket for the rear license plate. Be sure it has holes for the trunk button and trunk key.
The antenna wire is tucked in the carpeting where the floor joins the sidewall, hides well. I had to drill a hole in the rear tub to get the wire "outside" and then it comes out by the license plate light. Some say you don't need to drill, but nobody has been able to tell me exactly how to run the wire in that scenario.
