I would call Dennis at Double D. He'll have the answer. Or try posting in the Audio Section. Good luck

The placement of the rear two is all wrong they should be facing the cab.

Since you asked for advice … here is something to think about:

A high-end car audio system should consist of a front stage. This means that the sound should be coming from in front of you, just like it would from a live music performance.

A lot of car audiophiles don't even use rear speakers and would consider adding "additional" full-range speakers in the rear of a car as a downgrade in sound quality.

I'm sure there's no problem with adding 2 speakers.

Do what you want, but you would get much better sound by:

1. Replacing the front (door) speakers with a quality set of 2-Way Component Speakers

2. Replace the rear speakers with a quality set of 2-Way Coaxial Speakers

3. Unhook your center dash speaker

4. Install a quality single subwoofer in the rear of the cargo compartment

5. Power it all with a quality 5-Channel Amp

You can even keep your OEM Radio / Head Unit so you don't have to mess with that.

In fact, here is a good placement and enclosure for the subwoofer if you have a coupe:

Adding speakers to the same outputs may work but I don't think you will achieve the results you are looking for. In fact, if you add additional speakers in parallel, you will lower the impedance in that circuit and could potentially blow the amplifier circuits.
I suggest following Turbo6TA's advice if you want to improve the sound or do what Rich says and call Dennis at Double D. Good luck!!

Another thing to think about. I dont know if it changed for the GS but in earlier models the rear channel is mono not stereo. Its for fill only.

I talked to a friend that disconnected the two rear side speakers and ran those wires to the very rear and added two 10" speakers in a custom housing, sounds so much better and takes up very little extra room,I'll take pictures when done, thanks for the advice guys.

Interesting. I've been trying for days to get a satisfactory combination of tone and balance setting in my new GS coupe . . . was kind of disappointed in the Bose upgrade at first.

Now I've got the treble almost all the way up, the bass almost all the way down, the midrange one click past neutral, the L-R balance one click to R, and the front to rear balance 60% bias toward the front. This has eliminated most of the rear speakers sound and most of the insane thumping from the door subwoofers, and is now allowing the smaller speakers in the doors and dash to be the prominent sound source. I guess I configured a sort of "front stage" without knowing it.

I still think the system is very muddy and boomy regardless of the source, but this is the best I've found so far.

It will have to do, as I will not spend any money to tear apart the brand new Corvette I waited 30 years to finally purchase.

After re-reading what I wrote ... I should have said front "soundstage" instead of front "stage".

But it does sound like (no pun intended ) you did "configured a sort of front "soundstage" without knowing it".

Even your "L-R balance one click to R" probably helped to artificially equalize your front speakers path lengths to help your imaging (in the driver seat anyway ... your passenger not so lucky ).

I've done a couple live concerts and the room ambience (that comes from behind/sides) contributes greatly to the overall experience. So I wouldn't just diminish the contribution of rear speakers completely.

However in the C6, the listening environment is so severely compromised (especially in a Vert) that you are probably correct from a more critical perspective.

Most casual listeners like the enveloping sound experience that comes from multiple speakers, front and rear.

IMHO the best option for the OP is to call Dennis @ DblDMods and get a complete/sorted out/turn key replacement system with real tweets/mids/subs etc.

I have read somewhere that the two rears are mono and not stereo so not sure how much that would improve your sound.
