Got a crack from a stone. Any ideas what it will cost to install a 2009 OEM windshield with HUD, OnStar, Navigation, XM radio would be?
Wondering weather to go through the insurance co. Also anything tricky about install? Thanks, Mike
Had mine replaced in my 2012. Paid my $200 deductible and the local glass shop, Woody's Glass, fixed me right up! Have HUD, OnStar, etc. No issues and they took extra good care of my car. Were even able to salvage and reinstall my NCM sticker!
I just checked my collector car insurance policy. It has full glass coverage-no deductible. I checked and I put on the full glass coverage last year when it was renewed. New GM windshield for me.
Thanks for the tips. Looks like it will be Safelite/GM OEM.

Great, just had mine replaced, 50 dollar deductible. There are several Safelite's in my area, so there are good tech's and so-so one's. I found one that the tech had experience with high end cars, and did a great job. In fact he fixed the rear view (the dreaded shake) mirror for me.
no need for a hud windshield a regular windshield will work just fine and save you a bunch of money..
Some people have done that, and were satisfied. Others have said there is some degradation of the HUD image in certain lighting.
If the non-HUD windshield really did work just as well, GM could have saved a ton of money and hassle over the last nine years by using only one, cheaper, windshield. The fact that they continued to use two types suggests they have a reason.
I busted mine on the way home from the dealer when it was brand new.
After some research, I had Safelite do it, with "Navi" (Onstar), no HUD. The invoice was about $750. In SC it is state law that it is 100% covered by insurance, so nothing out of pocket. I don't have any complaints about the work or the quality of the piece of glass, but I'm not an expert on either.
Windshield replacement needed for 2006 convertible
Anyone in the Houston area? Experience with State Farm? I'm told my policy doesn't cover OEM glass. Called Affordable on Hillcroft, $1104 quote for my 2006 convertible with HUD and OnStar (no GPS nav), SafeLight was $1250 quote. Affordable is not one of SF's "approved" shops, but they agreed to the price offered them by SF, which I am pretty sure is less than their original $1104. I'm still going to be out a $500 deductible. Would appreciate any comments/thoughts and advice/recommendations. Whoever has $200 or $50 glass deductibles, would like to hear who you are with, and are you paying a higher premium for lower deducts? I'm not real happy with SF right now.
