Just got back from Alaska, and visited Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, B.C. I kept an eye out for a corvette, but didn't see a single one. I did see a Lamborgini (sp?) in Victoria.
I can assure you there was one on the streets of Skagway because I drove up there two weeks ago. I encountered one in Prince George BC on the way back and that was it for 3600 miles of Alcan highway. I did run into a rather large herd of Bison in the Yukon but lucky for me a large truck gave me warning.
I was told there were 2 older Corvettes that did just exactly that and came out for parades and nice days. Not a lot of driving area in Skagway and you could walk easily from most places.
How is the Alcan highway. I mean would it be possible to drive a Vette all the way to Alaska? I know that years ago a lot of it was gravel. Or so I was told.
Nothing to it. Always some road construction but its a paved road to Skagway anyway. Some huge potholes here and there and you have normally warning on uneven road surfaces. Fuel is not give a way prices. I came back on the Cassiar highway in western BC and its 99 percent paved with some road construction. I did the trip in a 13 base convertible and other than some tar spots on the back I can say the bugs all came off. It looked like the front had a two day old beard with dead bugs. If you dont take your car out when its raining you should not go. If your afraid to get it dirty you should also not go, otherwise go for it.

I did it back in 1998 in a C4 convertible. I left from Phoenix, AZ and drove to Eielson AFB (near Fairbanks). I had about 70 miles total of unpaved road. No damage to the Vette. It took me 4.5 days to cover ~3700 miles. I shipped it back from Fairbanks because my tour was over in the winter.
The OP would have had better luck seeing Vettes in Anchorage or Fairbanks.

I know they're up there somewhere because I was in Alaska a few weeks ago on an inland tour from Seward to Fairbanks and during one leg of the trip our bus passed a caravan of about a dozen corvettes traveling in the opposite direction.

That's just crazy talk. There are lots of Corvettes in Alaska.
