Hello all!! I am just in a position where I can buy a vet. And I have now come up with some decisions to make. Z06 or no Z06? That is the question. Here is what I want, I want a Machine Silver Metallic manual corvette. I think it would be nice to have the removable top, witch is why I don't know if I want the z06. But I am also a guy so I would like the extra power. Can any experienced vet guys let me know there opinion and advice? I want to stay under 50k. Thanks again.
I have a Machine Silver coupe and I love taking the top off. Since I don't track the car 400HP is plenty for my needs. You punch it and it will wake you up - FAST!
I have a 09 Coupe, I have the top off more than I do on. If you like a removable top you can buy a coupe and then supercharge it, best of both worlds and looks and sounds cool as well. I plan on supercharging mine someday when the funds are there.

I also feel that 400hp is plenty of power.

This was my original plan buy a C6 and put a supercharger on it and have the best of both worlds, but I hear the breaking and corning is much better in the Z06. Not saying I would ever be on the track, but I really do like the looks of the Z06 body.
I know I will get creamed for this, but the Z06 is a beast and unless you plan on doing a lot of track time you really don't need it for the street. the LS3 with it 430 -436 with NPP is plenty of power for the street. Plus a set of header, hi-flow cars and a aftermarket exhaust system and cold air induction and you will add a nice amount of punch to the motor.
If you want to stay under $50K I am not sure how much under, but you may want to check with some local Chevy dealers and see what they have left in teh 2013 model years. You may find that you can jump into a brand new coupe with some nice options.

I have been thinking about that also, the biggest problem I am running into is getting the manual and in the color I want it in. I have found a Z06 in the color I want but I am not sure if it is priced right?

Yes that is in the ballpark for that car. You may be able to get them down some, lets face it they price they post is always higher then they will take. I don't think you will get them below the $50K mark, but you can always give it a shot, I mean if you offer $47K that is $10K below their asking price. I guess it will come down to how bad they want to move the car. The biggest problem is it is a Z06 and they know that someone will be willing to pay asking or close to it.

Yeah I had talked to them and they wouldn't budge at all. Of course they may think I just want to drive a Z06 as I am sure they get a lot of that.
Get the point? Drive both models, and the cars will speak to you. That should help you decide. Get the one you like driving best.
One other thing. You didn't say whether you were thinking new or "previously used." This can be important. Many Z06s are "tracked"/raced and most are abused. Accordingly, buying a "previously used" example can be risky. Further, expect fewer mechanical issues with "base cars."
congrats to you if you got one.
I like my top off when ever possible and since I don't track my car I have more power in my 08 LS3 then I will ever be able to use. You have to watch these cars they will bite you before you know it. Just look up corvette wrecks.
What a great dilemma to have!
I went GS with manual and F55. When I hit the gas from a stop it definitely gets my heart pumping. From 0-60 both cars will provide a great deal of entertainment. I have yet to take off the removable top. At the track the GS holds its own with a lot of cars. It's biggest hold up is me, the driver. Have fun wracking your brain with 1% problems. We are a fortunate lot on this forum indeed.
