Default Service Fuel System

I am getting a Service Fuel System message, and my fuel gauge goes to empty. The Threads on this forum are from 2005. Has anyone found a cure other then drop the tank and replace the sender? Thanks Tom

Try a bottle of Techron Fuel System Cleaner first. See if that clears it up. Worked for quite a few people.

There is a flash for this issue on the 05. It was a common problem when they were new. My tank was lowered and the sending unit replaced. Shortly after that GM released a flash that took care of the problem. Check it out with your dealer.

So the latest is, at 225 miles which is less then half so that would be the left tank, the gauge went to empty and the service fuel system went on. I got home unhooked the battery terminal for 10 minutes hooked it back up and all was fine. ?? Is there any fix other then replacing the left sender? Thanks Tom

What was the bill for the replacement? Did you get both L/R done? Is there a thread about the flash? Mine is a 2006, 64k miles. Yesterday the gauge was at about 9/16, then dropped to 7/16, then started CLIMBING, all the way to 3/4, in the span of about 10 miles. Pulled off and topped of tank, showing FULL and appropriate range on DIC. Appreciate any facts or even anecdotes about similar problems.
