C6 vs C7
Do you guys think the new C7 will be faster than the C6 (OUT OF THE BOX) with absolutely NO mods not even an air cleaner??
Then after 6 mos. when the aftermarket co. start making speed parts for the C7 do you think it will be for for $ as fast or faster than the C6 (I'm talking only about 1/4 mile)
Take my 05 for an example when I got it BONE STOCK it ran 12.70...now with a few bolt ons a tune, and DR it has gone as fast as 11.59 @ 118 mph...
I'm just curious as to how the C7 will do and I may be wrong but don't the new C7 have a "Totally" new engine ? or is it just a refined LS motor??

On direct injected engines, fuel delivery seems to be a limiting factor. It's not as simple as swapping injectors in a normal car.
I think eventually you'll see aftermarket injectors out there, but I think it will be more expensive to build a C7 to be fast than a C6 because of the DI system. Add in the complexities of the system to tune for, and I think that it'll be harder to get a good tune for them as well.
But out of the box, base C6 vs base C7 the C7 should win. If it doesn't, GM screwed up.
This is all drag race related. In any sort of racing involving turns of both directions (ie real racing) the C7 has a massive advantage due to its much stiffer chassis.

Here are the pertinent performance test statistics from Motor Trend, there are a few stock base C6 that have ran just as fast or faster and as far as the Z06/ZR1 goes it wouldn't be close.
•0-60: 3.9 seconds
•Quarter Mile: 12.2 @ 117.3 mph
•60-0: 104 feet
•MT Figure 8: 23.9 sec @ 0.82 g (avg)
•Skid Pad: 1.11 g (average)
Here are the 2014 Corvette Stingray performance estimates released by Chevrolet back in June:
•0-60: 3.8 seconds
•Quarter Mile: 12.0 @ 117.3 mph
•60-0: 107 feet
•Skid Pad: 1.03 g

Time marches on...
The stock c6 was reported by gm to run the quarter mile in 12.4 @ 116?
The new c7 is being reported by gm to run the quarter mile in 12 flat @ 119 mph.
Those would be the logical numbers to use for comparing the two models.
I am sure when forum hotshot drivers get accustomed to their cars they will be able to post better times stock than the gm numbers.
The magazines stated they did not use their usual calculations for readjusting times for conditions as they often do.
I expect with mods etc the c7 running at atco or englishtown will be even faster than your modded 11.59 @ 118 mph JPEE...as that was your question.
As I posted ...time marches on and the new corvettes usually are faster.
C6 owners can enjoy their cars as they are still very fast and if you want to go faster....mods are always available to suit your desires.

Had a chance to drive a C7 for the first time last week. Compared to my stock C6 Grand Sport daily driver, the C7 is definitely faster. The C7 basically does everything better than the C6. The interior is awesome, but seems a little bit smaller and the seats are definitely narrower with greatly improved lateral support. I may need to get back down to fighting weight before I order one.

But what about a C7 Z06 or C7 ZR1 or C7 XJ?
Pretty sure the comparison was meant to be base model for both generations. jpee has an '05 and it was the only C6 model available at the time, just like the 2014 C7. I'm just glad as H that the new Vette has an actual model name.
