Was thinking of buying the visor with the home link. Is the Corvette per-wired so it is a simple install? Plans were to buy from dealer and change it out. I have a 2013 GS.
I have a 013 GS, don't need to buy a visor, the left button works with Homelink, follow the instructions religously with car IN the garage. Do a "Homelink" search here on the Forum, read, read, read. This also worked on the 09 I sold.

Yes, the car is prewired for the controller.
If the visor doesn't have buttons and LED's then you don't have any version.
You can use either the Homelink visor (3 buttons and 1 LED) or the newer Lear Car2U visor (3 buttons and 3 LED's). Check Ebay for used prices but be carefull which you buy, most people call either version a "homelink".

Thank you!
Can't remember which one has the least amount of problems, any idea?
We've had the genuine Homelink in 3 cars- 2006 Corvette, 2005 and 2011 Toyotas. On all three cars, it's a big PITA. Range is very short (must be within a car-length of the door), and "push time" is very critical (too short or too long won't work).
We have the newer cars-2-u in our 2009 Corvette and it's great.
But some people have problems with compatibility, it just can't be programmed to certain openers.
If any of our current systems dies, I plan to do what we did in our C5-
Use some sticky-back Velcro to attach the original transmitter to the bottom of the steering column:
Out of sight
Good range
Easier to find by feel
Easily removed or replaced if needed.
Love the Lear on my 05 Z51.
As already said great range, programmed in a few minutes on my Genie rolling code motor.
05 has Home Link not Lear unless you changed it.
Mine has good range. It opens when I'm still in the street at my next door neighbors house. Door is almost completely up by the time I approach it.
Nope.
Already debated and researched at length on another thread a few months back.
Seems GM was randomly switching from Homelink to Lear on some model cars (mine is a Z51 and very late 05 was not on the street until 06).
And the original owner and the maintenance records, do not indicate the visor was ever replaced.
No biggie though, and again I love it. It's been flawless so far.
Nope.

Ok then. Mine was built early in Oct. 04 so I guess that's why it has Home Link.
BTW, there were only 2 models in 05. Coupe and Convertible.

Yup. Meant package option (mine is 1SB), and Z51 versus base.
Not sure if this would have an incidence on GM accessory selection, but doing like most everyone else here: Shooting the $#!t.
Nope.

"very late 05 was not on the street till 06" Maybe not sold until '06 but the last '05 was produced in late spring, early summer of 2005. '06 production started in late spring, early summer of 2005.
You aren't the original owner so how can you possibly know whether someone changed the unit?
Yours is the only '05 I've ever heard of with an original Lear unit. I doubt very much it was produced originally in an '05.

OK.
To be honest, I have no interest, motivation nor energy to restart the debate already had on a previous thread, on the probability of the lear system in my car for being factory installed or not.
Did I mention it worked flawlessly, was easy to program and that I loved its range, greater than the original motor remote?
