Check active handling...
So I get in my 09 M6 yesterday after work and as I am leaving the lot my parking brake light comes on a dings at me...I look over and see that the brake is down. Also it is saying service active handling, traction etc...
I put the clutch in and shut the car off and re-start it and it clears up.
This AM we are heading out and it does it again...so I shut it off and re-start and it clears up....
Battery?

Also check the positive battery cable connection at the starter for proper torque. Kopr Kote is good for making good connections and stopping corrosion at the same time. http://www.jetlube.com/KOPR-KOTE-Industrial-P748.aspx If buying a new battery, make sure that its Reserve Capacity is 120 or better if available. If the voltage drops below 10.5 volts while starting, the computer gets fuzzy brained and doesn't think straight. (Lay man talk).
Having this same issue with my 09 z06. Start the car and service active handling comes on including little light. I can cycle through the options traction control off then traction control on and light goes away. Competitive driving mode no longer an option. What can this be? Dealer is lost says they can't figure it out. I did have the battery off for a while when doing my supercharger install. The issue started when I started the car for the first time afterwards.
It could be one of the two big blue connectors that are in the fuse box under the passenger footwell carpet. I would suggest checking them out and perhaps re-seating them. They can cause all kinds of crazy things to happen electrically.
