Wanted to get the expert's opinions on a 2005 corvette I am looking at. It is a 2005 black/black with 32,500 miles. No accidents or paint and is mechanically sound. Few chips on the underside but not visible unless you get on your back and look underneath. Has a transparent top and is equipped with everything but Navi. Not a Z51 and is the LS2 package. It is an auto and has no modifications. Two new fronts with the rears needing replaced in about 5k.
Based on what you know, what would be a good buying price for this vehicle?
LS2 is the motor 1SB is the pkg if it has heated seats. If it does not have heated seats it is a 1SA. Low 20's anyway for an 05 with 32k on it.22000 or so.
Just used an appraisal tool from Criswell on mine to get an approximate trade in value, '05 A4 Z51, all options plus 2 tops, 24K miles, $23,600. Yours I'm guessing 22K and under....Good Luck!
Would 25K be a good deal? Based on my search 25K while not a steal, is a very good price.
You are correct 25k is not a steal, but not a bad price if the car is mint and has what you want. You can see if they will budge off that number, pay it or continue the search. For me if the deal is good enough and the car is what I want I go for it. I hate all this searching for the so called perfect/best price in the USA..
FWIW I paid 22k for my immaculate 2005 Z51 / 1SB with factory nav, 40k miles, and four new Contis. Extreme...... (private party)
That was 4 months ago.
Out here in CA, I sold my 05 - Pioneer Navi, CCW SP16 wheels, 1SB 58K miles to a local dealer for $25K. Funny a guy asking $22k for a C4 told me I was stupid for letting go so low
If you get that car for 25,000 your getting a good deal. I've seen them priced more like 28,000, especially if they are in excellent shape. Check out auto trader for examples.
I'd say $25k & up based on mileage & condition, I don't know anyone selling an 05 for less than that. Even the C5's are bringing very low 20's here in Florida. Damn, you guys are generous telling people $20K ( give or take some) for an 05 C6. Mine was on the high end at $32k but one owner & 9k on the odometer a Z-51 6spd vert. 1sb loaded & such (and a Florida car)
They always cost somewhat more down here. Good luck if you decide to get it. And the 05's are just as reliable as the 06's & up, minus the engine change from the LS2 to the LS3 on the 07's & up. 30hp if that really matters.

I gotta disagree with that Jimmy...
I was on the hunt for about 6 months prior to pulling the trigger on my 22k Z51, and all the while was thinking how glad I was to be in Florida.
This is definitely a Corvette state, tons of them on the market, and where the majority of the best deals are, as a result of such a large offering volume.
On another hand, I most certainly agree with this:

I traded a 2005 in less than perfect condition and got $22K for it in 2012. It was in the dealer's newspaper ad the next weekend for $29.5K and the ad only ran once (but they could have wholesaled it.). A year later maybe $1-2K less that that, I'd guess. Offer $24K and see what happens. IMO $25K would be a good price.
One of the Vettes I looked at was an '05, owned by the neighbor of my Mom. It was in really good shape, but it was automatic. 35K miles, 3LT, 2 sets of wheels, 2 tops.
He was at $28.5K and wasn't budging. It was in the paper for $31K. I don't know if he got that for it, but the car is gone- - -
just to give ya an idea. i bought my '05 6spd last summer. mag red with 14K on it, every option but nav. cashmere interior. perfect condition inside and out. Had the Z51 option with the clear top and painted top, 4 new runflats. paid $30K. some will say i over payed but it was local, excellent condition and had everything you could ask for. no regrets
