this makes my third nail I have picked up with my GS. The two previous ones were either rear tire, now driver rear has it's second one - just noticed a big ole roofing nail center of tread. No loss of air yet. As this makes the second repair on the tire, am wondering if I can get Discount Tire to repair on Monday - or will they try to force me to get a new tire. I have seen comments regarding losing your speed rating in this situation. Original GY RF's - 10 month old GS, 5300 miles with plenty of tread left. I was sure hoping on getting to 10-12K+. Of course I would welcome better tires on the car, just have a problem with the way these tires pick up nails more than any car I have owned - new Michelins or Bridgestones will have same issue - right? My pickup or wife's car - no issues driving same roads. What is other's experience here? Seems more contact area=more probability of picking up crap. What say you guys?
This occurred with my first vehicle, a brand new Dodge Ram 1500. I "picked up" a nail in three tires in about two months. There was no rhyme, or reason for it. It was utterly frustrating. It's not like I was driving through construction sites either.

yep, exactly. In fact, my neighbors find my FOD walk amusing when someone down the street gets a new roof placed. I avoid any things like that and definitely any new neighborhoods under construction...
I just replaced my tires last month. When they pulled the old stock GYs off the rims they just started laughing. 6 nails between the 4 tires. Never lost any air and I never noticed.
Repair it yourself with a Genuine Innovations tubeless tire repair kit. I've successfully used it four times with no air loss on motorcycle rear tires.

Tire shop said the punctures on my tires were too numerous and close together and could not be patched correctly. Also said the old style of plugging would not work and is not advised. I trust this shop, as I have bought tires there for years and they have taken care of me on many other issues at no cost. Believe me I would have loved to had a "magic bullet" kit that day.
As a result of a severe local storm with very large hail back in early June, there is a lot of re-roofing going here. I got in my wife's 427 convertible on Friday and got the "low pressure left front" message on the DIC. At the shop we found a roofing nail stuck in the tire. The tech said they will not "plug" punctures on the Michelin run flats on the car so the tire was patched from the inside.

Yep, same hail hit us in SA, many roofing jobs going on. I am gonna have to devise a Rube Goldberg Magnet contraption out in front of the car to pick up stuff as I motor along.
