There's a cat that's been sleeping in the top of my vette. and i can't find the owner. the pound doesn't pick up cats and I'm not gonna pay 60 bucks for a trap. So before i get mid evil on this cat I'm asking for some input.

 

My car sleeps under a carport. When cats start coming around, I spread mothballs on the ground around the car. That's all it takes.

 

My Grandpa used to load a pump pellet gun with a wooden match. Would do no long lasting harm, but the cats never came back.

Or get an Akita like Benny. No cats around here.

I wish I could offer some firsthand advice on this but I can't. I have four cats and all of them stay off the convertible top of mine. I'm a dog person, NOT a cat person. My sisters friends cousins aunt has a non-blood related adopted brother. In casual conversation he once related the same problem you're having. He suggested pepper spray. I kept it mind as I do have cats. I'm not exactly sure but for some reason, my cats stay roughly 260 feet away from my car at ALL times. It might have to do with my black wheels but if I'm not mistaken, they're color blind so that can't be it. Even animals that don't have brains will adjust accordingly with the right amount of direction I suppose.

I am dealing with cats right now.

Tractor supply has two for one traps right now for 26.99.

I have caught two cats and a possum since Sunday.
There is one more cat I want.

They are all wild cats, so no owners to deal with...
Man are farel cats pissed when you cage them.

 

Live trap them and if animal control wont take them, take them for a nice long ride into the country and drop them off. Other than kill them, what else are your options.....

PS a can of tuna fish makes great bait....

This works -

Purchase some very inexpensive vinyl dinner place mats.(or similar)
On one side only, liberally apply 2 sided tape. Expose the 'sticky'.
Lay the mats down, sticky side up, on the top of the car where the cat is sleeping.
It won't take too many visits by the cat to learn it does not like the feel of the sticky tape on it's paws, and find a new napping spot.

No harm to the cat - no harm to your car. And you can easily take the mats off when you use the car and replace them when parked.

 

I wonder if this would work around my bird feeder.... I can see it already, all my mats around the feeder with the squirrels stuck on them...

 

Squirrels would quickly learn to jump over/around them - intelligent little bastards.

I resorted to feeders on a pole, far enough away from the house, trees and so on so that they can not jump from those things onto the feeders. Then I use one of those large round discs mounted 2/3 way up the pole. Lastly some quality squirrel proof feeders. Works the majority of the time, but there's always that smart squirrel that won't be deterred . . .

 

It won't work for squirrels. They would see that from a mile away. BUT...They have a brain.

I have a friend with a ZR1 who's cat, whitey, loves to sleep on top of the supercharger window when it's warm. He just laughs and said whitey can sleep where she wants...

place a small container or plate with mothballs on/in it on top of the car.

 

My wife's cousin did this, animal control said they couldn't come out for 2 more days. He told them never mind, he would be going for a boat ride later that evening. They arrived within 2 hours.
