Default Shifting problems

I have a 2007 vet with a 6 speed manual transmission. I last drove it 1 month ago, everything was fine with shifting. I started it up yesterday, and it would not go into any gear while running. It shifted fine when not running. This problem happened while sitting in the garage. It would start with the transmission in gear, but struggled to, as it would start moving even with the clutch pushed in. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Same thing happened to me on my 2003 this summer. I could get it in gear with the ignition in the "on" position, then start it although the car would creep slightly. I had to have it towed to the dealer and have replaced the clutch. There are "fingers" on the plate which became distorted.

The clutch did seem harder to push. I just can't understand how this could tear up while sitting in the garage.

again, same thing with me. Drove the car to work, gym and home, all was fine. Next AM I get in to go to work and can't put it in gear with motor on. The tech at my dealer showed me the pressure plate and it looked like it warped.

The clutch can fail at any time.

First check your clutch fluid reservoir to make certain you have enough fluid. If it is low use DOT 5 brake fluid (synthetic fluid). If it is low fill to the line on the reservoir and pump the pedal and it should come back up.

check the floor under the car for leaks at the slave cylinder end.

If you are lucky it is just low fluid.

If it is the clutch or the slave cylinder, you are going to have a big bill.

Good luck.

Do a search for "ranger method" fluid replacement in the clutch reservoir.
Consider changing your tranny fluid.
I had the same issues before and then I did the above listed maintenance. No worries since. Shifts like buttah!

That would be DOT 4. DOT 5 is silicone-based and is not compatible with anything.
