Default Bootless Shifter

I own an A6 so this really doesn't apply to me. Just letting my curiosity wonder. Does anyone make a bootless shifter setup for the C6? It seems like it would be remarkably simple to manufacture.
Food for thought...

No one does and it seems simple enough, but I think a big problem would be making one that aligns perfectly for all c6's since there is no actual gate on the stock c6 shifter.

Yep, you can't use that system on the crappy Vette tranny, since it has the (sloppy) gates on the tranny itself. But even if we could, I HATE gated sihfters. They look great, but that's about it. Very clunky, slow, and uninspiring IMO. I haven't driven an R8, but have plenty of seat time on a Ferrari 430 with the same shifter. And it's a damn shame since Ferrari uses probably the best manual tranny available: the amazing Graziano unit. Some owners even went as far as shaving the 'gates', leaving a gaping squared hole, but it looks awful. The best tranny I've ever experienced is the same Graziano manual on an Aston Vantage. The Porsche Getrag comes second, mostly due to its rubbery cable linkage, rather than the more satisfying rod linkage. But functionally, it doesn't get better than a Porsche IMO, since the driving position, clutch take-up, and shifter throws are just about perfect. The most satisfying car to drive, although I don't quite enjoy the 911 due to its driving dynamics. The best Porsche to drive is the Cayman S IMO... but it lacks the power of the 911. It'd be the perfect car if Porsche didn't neuter it to protect the dynamically-flawed 911 .

Honestly? I think I'd consider that for my car. I don't usually smack through the gears and I think that adds a touch of class to the whole enchilada.
