Default Dual Mode Muffler Question

I have an 05 Base which has stock Mufflers. I know the have Mild to Wild you have to have Dual Mode Mufflers, which have the flaps in the exhaust. I have found some locally from a 2007 Z06. Is all I need the ends (the part with the flaps in them) or the whole exhaust system? Also will the 07 Z06 fit a 05 Base Coupe? Thanks!!

You will need the entire mufflers (along with the vacuum controls, and to run a vacuum line to that area. There are many posts about how to do this, I'll try to find the best one and edit this post to put it here, but if you do an "advanced search for "upgrade to NPP exhaust", you should find them too.

You should also look at aftermarket exhausts, because there are systems that offer the same feature.

However, the most inexpensive way to upgrade would be to find a good deal on an LS3 engine muffler set (with the NPP valves) and get the appropriate oter parts/controls to make it work. the Z06 mufflers will require more adapters, and may be a very tight fit, because of the 3" pipe feeding the mufflers. Automatic vettes have the most clearance issues, according to most posts out here.

As mentioned, the Z06 muffler cans will be a major issue because of the size difference in the pipe diameter. Also, the over the axle pipes on the NPP for the non Z06 cars have a different bend starting in '08 when the NPP became an option on the LS3 cars. Sunset Orange Creations, forum vendor, makes a complete kit that includes the vacuum lines. Personally, I'd put the money into a good aftermarket exhaust: Billy Boat, Corsa, Borla come to mind. At least they will fit w/o issue right out of the box.

Here is an aftermarket dual mode solution: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...yours-now.html and here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-p...t-systems.html

And finally, here is a post discussing upgrading an LS2 vette to NPP from stock: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...n-npp-car.html

The '07 Z06 will work on your car. You need at least the full mufflers with tips. The full mufflers W/overaxle pipes will require a reducer between the mid-pipe and Z06 overaxle pipe, just the mufflers will require welding the Z06 mullers to your 2.5" overaxle pipes.

You will still need an exhaust controller and related vacuum lines and wiring. I recommend http://sunsetorangecreations.com/
