Default Flashing third brake light

Anyone convert to a flashing third brake light?

Where did you get it?

Did it require any wire cutting to connect?

Did it cause any other electrical issues... ABS etc?

No issues at all. It plugs into the light and then OEM harness plugs into the pulser. West Coast Corvettes has them along with some other vendors.

Just curious, are there any studies about whether they actually reduce accidents at all?

I'd like to know this also.

I don't see too many of the flashing third brake lights around here, but when I do, my eyes are drawn to it. You may think that this is a good thing, but I would disagree. When you fixate on something, you lose sight of everything else. To me, this outweighs any benefits of a flashing brake light.

Easy to install. As to the flashing, it only flashes three or four times then goes steady. Also, takes several seconds to re-cycle so it doesn't flash every time you apply the brakes in stop and go traffic situations.

I don't like them ... look tacky to me. But that's just my opinion.

Much less tacky than blackout covers or tinting on the tail lights. Function should trump form.

There are countless stories of drunk drivers drawn to or homing in on flashing red/blue lights on police cars on traffic stops. The drunks fixate on them and drive right into them.

I would resist doing this.

I have owned and ridden motorcycles for decades. I had this feature on my last two bikes. My thought is the flashing light flashes 2-3 times, then goes solid with the other 2 and gets the attention of those who may be day dreaming. I liked it on the bike.

I would rather have the other 99.99999% of the drivers behind me, who are not drunk, have their attention drawn to my stop light.

The flashing light are everywhere on motorcycles as I have a couple myself. I will look on my motorcycle forum and see if there was a study done I believe there was.
