Yes I have one and use it, if you use a harness 5 or 6 point you need one as a hard hit will probably break your neck (Basil skull fracture) 
you will never touch the air bag.
that said if you use the stock seatbelts and airbag you have about 99% as much safety as the harness and Hans device.
it's the last 1% which can make a big difference.
