I checked insurance prices from both Hagarty and Grundy and they varied greatly. Have used them both in the past with a couple of old hot rods, but not with the Vette (2011 GS). Anybody have other recommendations for good insurance in Texas?

Check out AAA. I have Travelers through AAA (in Georgia, not Texas) and I pay a little over $500 per year for a 2012 GS Coupe. Clean driving record and max coverage. My Vette costs less to insure than my 2012 Civic. Go figure.

I have it from NCM too, but the actual policy is written through American Modern.

Can't belong to a country club! Can you believe it? I can only think of one car hit by a golf ball and he was just driving through.

Oh, not true.....You can belong to a country club, but taking the car that we insure to the golf course isn't something we cover. Errant golf ***** (I have a horrible slice), driving and driving of carts, young folks driving carts, and simply folks who don't care about your car are our concerns.

Adam, this is purely a technicality on your part. I have been playing golf since I turned 12. When I bought my first car at age 16, my golf clubs have been in my trunk. I have had 4 corvettes, and two other sports cars, all cars
that my wife couldn't drive. Do you really think anyone would believe my wife would give up her car so I could drive to a golf course?

What if you are single and only own a Corvette? I wonder how Tiger Woods would have developed his game if he was insured by you?

By the way, I can correct that slice in one lesson. Try weakening your grip and swing out. Your swinging from outside in and not completing your rotation.

No question, it is technical. Here is where I think the confusion is.

We are not standard auto insurance. We are a specialized collector car insurance. We do not and can not insure vehicles that are considered daily use transportation, or the only car is the Corvette. We require our customers to have a daily use vehicle to be able to have our insurance.

Thanks coach! I will try that for sure!

I agree with Adam, their rates are really low for a reason, they minimize their risk for drivers who don't use their car as much, if it doesn't meet how you use your vette, then there is more expensive insurance out there to cover you. It is more expensive for a reason, they are covering their higher risk of damage.

Not just to belabor the point, I average less than 4000 miles a year on the vette, ship rather than drive between my two homes, CT & FL, belong to two clubs, never seen a ball hit a parked car in a country club parking lot in over 60 years of golf. Did see a ball hit a car once that was driving through to the Inn. . I would think the lower risk that Adam is looking to insure would be based on mileage, history of accidents, and overall driving record. Never had an accident and last moving violation was over 40 years ago. Fortunately I can afford the higher priced spread as they say.

I guess it is based on where you park. Got some scratches on my fender for parking in a shopping center. Heaven forbid.

Oh, by the way, I do have a second personal car, Cadillac Eldorado, but I only have it in CT. Hey, it is what it is.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Seems like insurance varies with the customer, location and specific circumstances. I have my "civilian" cars tied in with home insurance (long story). I had my old hot rod (red chopped ZZ Top look-alike almost) insured thru Hagarty then went with Grundy a couple of years ago. Here's my results. I checked with AAA, NCM, Hagarty and Grundy. Ended up staying with Grundy. AAA and NCM were about 10-15% higher and Hagarty was twice as high. All were given the same specs.

I"m still not getting why you would pay for insurance that doesn't let you drive your car. All insurance is a scam.

Credit rating, driving history, other policies, day of the month. Seems like everything affects rates. Really just have to shop around and take the best deal. I have yet to find an agent actually willing to go to bat for their clients. Just switched from a really bad State Farm agent and am saving $100 a month between house and cars.

I suggest you shop often too.

Stop waxing and start driving.
