I noticed the other day that my passenger side rear-view mirror in my 08 3LT doesn't move with the memory buttons. The power function of it is working and I tried moving both mirrors off the #1 setting and hitting the button to bring them back. The driver's side moved back like it should but the passenger's did not.
Any ideas what causes this? Is it a simple fix or somewhat costly/involved?
I was really hoping it might have been something that someone else has dealt with and could offer some guidance. I have a feeling that since the power is still working, it's just the memory that isn't, means the motor is fine but there is probably some sensor used to detect where the mirror is and where it needs to move it to.
I'm gonna try to open it up and get an idea of what is going on in there to determine if there are any trouble spots.
I haven't checked out the mirror yet, but noticed something strange that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced.
When I first enter or exit the vehicle the passenger side mirror motor is moving the mirror. I noticed too that when adjusting the mirror there is a dead spot or something that the mirror tries to go around when I try to aim the mirror low and outside away from the car.
I'm wondering how the mirror comes apart, any advice/tips or should I just get a service manual to figure things like that out?
