If one was to purchase used brake calipers with fairly new ceramic pads from someone else would you have to change pads anyway, rebed the pads on your car, or shouldn't have to worry and they will work!
When you say "bed" the pads ... do you mean the practice of making several quick stops from 50 or so?
I've never bedded pads on a new car or for replacements in my life and had no problems. We have a new Caddy ATS and didn't bed them and it stops just fine.
Is there really a need for bedding? Shouldn't you just avoid quick stops (if possible) for a while, but do nothing else?
First I would go out to my concrete driveway and rub the brake surface in a figure eight pattern on the driveway until the pads are smooth.
Then I would treat them like new pads.
You could also do this on a full size sheet of 80 grit sand paper.
But using the driveway will not cost you the price of sand paper.
I know what cheapazzes some Corvette owners are on this forum.
