Something really odd happened to my 07 Z51 A6 coupe the other day. I had just returned home from a long drive (Over some old rough roads) When I got out and looked back at the car, the drivers side rear fender seamed to be sitting a lot lower than what it should. So i grabbed my tape measure and measured from the ground up to the bottom of the fender wheel opening and sure enough the left side was about 1-1/4" lower than the passenger side After jacking the car up and looking around the rear suspension for signs of trouble, I found the mono-leaf spring adjusting screw on the driver side had busted flush with the bottom of the spring, the Adjusting/Jacking pad that contacts the lower A arm was gone !!! Apparently the factory adjusting screw/pad assembly is not available separately so a new (Or good used) rear spring is going to be required. If any one has one (A Rear spring or stock adjuster from a lowered car modification!!) That they would be willing to part with, please let me know. I have made a few inquiries into the C6 parts section, so hopefully one of my fellow forum members can help me out !!
Oh, and just to get the car useable again. I made a 1-1/4 thick 2" diameter Teflon spacer and pushed it between the remaining part of adjusting screw and lower A arm, So far so good, but I don't want to leave it like that any longer than I have to.
Thanks for any help
Roger.
Do you think those will still allow the stock ride hieght? I do not wish to lower the car.
Yes, they have a long bolt. As for the durability, the factory bolts with the rubber on the bottom also contort quit a bit. Use a good quality grease on the pad and control arm contact and it will reduce the scrubbing that causes the failures on the aftermarket bolts.
The pad really needs to slide on the control arm so anything you do to the arm contact patch to smooth it out will help.
Give LG Motorsports a call, they might have a takeoff leaf spring from a coilover conversion. I got a great deal on a new set of Z06 sway bars from them.
