Default Wheel tutorial needed

See my post on 2009 wheel failure.

I am going to replace these wheels andW could use some advice. The 2009 wheels look different from the 2007 and earlier wheels. The center is a different size.

Where can I get good used wheels and is it wise to even consider them?

Any hint on what a good price would be?

I am currently in a hotel using their Lan and it is driving me nuts. Each line has to be retyped and/ or edited.

i understand your frustration with the hotel's WiFi ... supposedly "high speed" but just as often as not, it's "no speed" in most places I've been.

I've never purchased any used factory wheels, but from many posts I've seen you can often get really good ones (from those who have gone to aftermarket ones for the style), for $400-$500 for the set of 4. And that's much less than retail.

my understanding's a bit different: it is seemingly difficult to find an excellent condition set of used wheels. altho I'm not a fan of many aftermarket wheels, some less expensive ones have a good reputation (ask "Gearhead Jim" for his experience of searching out used wheels). if it were me, I'd save up for a good set of new wheels. (I did get lucky and get a good set just like yours, but it was luck imo)

Since it was mentioned, I had very bad luck trying to buy used factory wheels (polished Gumbys) from both individual members here and one wheel shop with a good reputation.

I finally decided I like the painted split-spokes better, was able to buy two complete sets for $300/set on local Craigslist in like-new condition. That was three years ago.
