Seat memory
Any quick tip things to check or just head to dealership?
Tks.

2. Be sure options are set correctly.
3. If still having problems, check for loose/crimped wires, or loose connectors; under the seat. Open connector, carefully reconnect, use a zip tie to hold together forever.
That solves 99% of the problems.

There is a difference on how the automatic and manual transmissions use the memory system. On our A6, the seat and steering wheel automatically go to my driving position as soon as the car is started, and then go to the exit position when the engine is shut off and the door is opened. Or you can push the appropriate button (only momentarily, or it will "save" the "new" position) for driving or exit, any time the tranny is in Park.
The M6 cars are a bit more complex, I think the parking brake is involved but I don't know the details. You M6 guys may need to use your Owner Manual and a magnifying glass to understand the system.
After reading many threads here, and having my own experiences, it seems that:
If the seat (or steering wheel) does not move at all, most of the time (but not always) it's some kind of "pilot error" with the settings, fobs, or parking brake (M6)/transmission (A6).
If the seat or steering wheel moves a little but not enough, or works properly after you move it slightly with the switches on the seat and then hit the memory button again, most of the time (but not always) there is a bad connection or wire.
YMMV, unfortunately.

The good news is it's not a safety problem like the connector at the back of the seat that GM refuses to admit is a problem. One day the air bag will not deploy and they will say they didn't know it was a problem. The sooner we get together and complain to the NHTSA about the connector problem the sooner they will take care of it.
