I am thinking about buying an '06 Vette convertible with the automatic transmission. The one I have looked at in person has the paddle shift.
My question is: Do all '06 and newer Vettes with automatic transmissions have the paddle shift or is that an option that only some '06 and newer automatics have?
I have looked at several internet ads for '06s and some list the paddle shift and power top as options and other ads for automatics and convertibles don't mention it.
Also, was a manual top available on these cars? I currently have an '05with the power top and I much prefer a manual top like my '02 had. I could raise or lower my manual top much quicker than the slow jerky power top on my '05. Were there any improvements made on the power top from '05 to '06?
I believe that the paddle shift is an option. at least this is what I was told.
Just so we don't confuse the OP; the auto tranny was an option, when the auto went from a 4 speed to a 6 speed in 2006, the paddle shifter showed up at the same time. So all A6 trannys in the C6 have paddle shift.
I like my '05 except for two things: It is red and I want another yellow car(our '02 was yellow) and it has the A4 transmission with performance axle and I want the A6 for better fuel mileage.
Is the power top on the '06 model a stand alone option or is it something you have to get in the popular option packages?
There is a lady in our club who has an '06 she is thinking of trading in for another car. If she decides to do so I plan to swap with her so she can trade in my car and I will just pay the difference in trade value if any. Her car has around 40K miles and mine only has 21K miles so I am thinking the trade value will be very close.
By trading with her it will save me about $2000 in sales tax as I would only have to pay tax on the amount I pay above the value of my car. The lady would trade in my car and avoid most of the tax on her new car as it won't be a Corvette.
If we can't do a swap to avoid the tax I'll just keep my '05 as it is a beautiful car and it is not that I dislike the color but I just prefer the yellow if given the choice.

Don't sell the power top short. Once you helped me get my 08 functioning properly way back, with the switch diagrams, it works beautifully, is quick and pretty smooth. I like being able to pull up to a red light and if I decide to drop the top it takes all of about 10 second to strip down and go. Freaks the cars out around me.
