Gees!! I Googled Chevrolet parts and got three GMPartsDirect. There is a .com, .net and a .co. Wow!! It looks like the .co has the least expensive part that I need although there is no big dollar differece but there is about a 10% difference overall including handling and shipping.
Go with your local deal as suggested above they will match the price. Gene Cully makes you think you are getting a great deal, shop around there are much better out there.
Local dealer, Parts Taxi......
The parts direct sites seem to all be a front for some back end Gm parts supplier. Sort of like custom store fronts for an Amazon page. Regardless, there is an upside to buying from this parts behemoth... I needed a part next day and parts direct drop shipped from their warehouse to my door. Nice. With next day air, it was still cheaper than dealer cost.

The dealer would only give me 10% off, he told me to look on the internet for better pricing. I use to get internet pricing years ago using a friend's shop name, but since he has retired.
Buying at the dealer with a discount you pay taxes. I have to pay 9 3/4% which becomes a wash with shipping charges.
Partsdirect charges high shipping rates to make up for pricing. I used both Partsdirect and GMpartshouse and had no issues. I basically look for the best price offered between the two.
Not once has any dealer ever done this for me. They are all crazy in the brain.
Just last week I went to the GMC dealer where I bought the family truckster needing about $500 in parts. Told the parts counter that I usually get my parts on-line, and in the past my local Chevy dealer (who also can get GMC parts) would give me a discount to at least come somewhat close to the on-line prices. I'm ready to buy now, and would prefer to buy from them since I bought the truck from them, could they offer any discount ,even if it wasn't as big as the on-line discount I could get? Answer "No". Are you sure, no discount at all? "The only discount we offer is 10% of to senior citizens". OK, I'm about to leave and by the parts elsewhere then, you don't want the business? "We can't offer a discount".
There are some (many?) dealers stuck back in the per-internet age and won't adjust their business practices to the modern world, where they aren't the only game in town. That's their choice and absolutely their right, but will make staying a profitable business harder than it needs to be.
By the way, I'm not asking car dealers to do things others won't do. If I walk into Target and ask them to price match Amazon.com, they will. Even if I go back several days later to ask them to adjust the price. Best Buy will match Amazon. Bed Bath and Beyond will take competitors coupons. But my GMC dealer is walking away from a $500 sale because they have no interest in revisiting their policies.
That is correct. You are not ordering direct from GM but actually from car dealerships. Had a poor experience with GMPartsDirect.com 10 years ago.
Helllo Gold72,
We opened our doors in 1999-2000, We are under new management. We have worked hard over the past few years to solve many of the issues we had when we first opened up our online business. GmPartsDirect.com sells parts near published dealer cost plus a percentage for a shipping and handling fee. This fee is not actual shipping charges only. The shipping and handling pays for the shipping charges plus our other expenses like web programming, employees, etc. Another way to explain this is, we are selling you the part near published dealer cost, the shipping, and handling pays all of our expenses associated with running the web site. The amount left over after our expense is our profit.
If you find a lower delivered price at one of our competitors, please email us a screen shot and link of their delivered price and we will try to meet and beat their delivered price.
Thanks and have a Great Weekend,
M.Williams
