06 driver side door clicking
Well, I noticed it again today and discovered the lower forward outside door panel is intersecting the lower rear of the fender panel when the door is opened causing a clicking noise. The vehicle is in excelent condition and has had no accidents. I am guessing that I must apply leverage on the door while getting out and thus caused the issue.
The interference is minor and there is no paint damage. however, this is certainly something that needs to be corrected.
Is this something I could adjust myself or should the dealership be asked to correct the problem.
If this is a do-it-yourself task, does anyone know what to do?
I think the door only needs to shift a MM or two. The interference is minor and does not occur all the time.
Here is my stupid question...
Looks like there are 3 bolts, 2 on the top hinge and 1 on the bottom.
(1) I am assuming the nuts on the inside of the door jam are fixed and will not rotate once the bolts are loosened. Is this correct???
(2) of the 2 bolts on the top hinge are either of the door hinge holes slotted ( upper or lower ? )
My thought is to (A)loosen the lower hinge (B) loosen the upper bolt in the slotted hinge hole (C) lift the door gently (D) re tighten and check door closure along with clearance between the forward lower door panel and the lower rear fender panel.
My guess is that in a perfect world, the process would take 3-5 minutes. However, in my world it would take 120 minutes followed by a visit to a dealer with an explanation of "I have no friggin idea how this happened!".
One more thing: Any one know the torque specs for the door hinge bolts? Don't want to create another even worse problem.
Thanks.

My first attempt was to loosen just the single bolt on the lower hinge followed by a gentle upward "Tug" on the end of the foor and a re-tightening of the bolt. For the moment it seems to have gone away, but I do not think that will be enough.
I am also concerned about torque specs and over tightening.
