You'll love it....I have two eagle lifts one is the GLO-7000 which about 3 years old...no issues and I just bought a 2nd one an GLO-8000 in July....also no issues.
I use them for everything from storage to working on my cars.
What is involved with changing how the garage door opens? Is it simply adding tracks straight up the front wall as opposed to being suspended from the ceiling? Do the installers do that?
Yes you have to change tracks and get the opener. Cost me a little over five hundred installed. Will have tracks running on ceiling too but not as far back.
I am planning on building a pole barn shop in the spring. Is 12' high enough for the interior ceiling to use a four post lift? Could I put my F-150 on the lift with a 12 foot ceiling?
I'm not positive but I'd say it would be tight to get pickup all the way up with 12 foot ceiling. I have 10.5 feet and can just get Corvette up to where I can walk under it.
I've had a four post lift purchased from Greg Smith located in Indianapolis for about four years now. Seriously consider purchasing the bridge jacks (converted to pneumatic). With these you can lift and remove wheels in order to do brakes, etc. Lift including bridge jacks was about $3,000.
Garage ceiling is 11'6". Converted the garage door lift to a side mount and had the tracks moved upward. The door, when fully open, is now about four inches from the ceiling. This removes the opener from the center of the ceiling and makes the entire space feel more open. The door conversion including the new lift motor and installation was around $1,000.
Here are a few pics. Please don't flame me, the pics were taken before the 08 C6 was onsite, lol.
My ceiling height is 10'3" and my barn is 2 cars deep so I will have
No problem with overhead door issues,it appears to me that everyone
That has one is extremely happy no matter who they purchased it from?
Local guy has eagle with C6 up top and C3 underneath and loves it.
I am money conscience but want one I can depend on and will spend
Extra money to do so but don't need anything that won't have a corvette
On it because I don't work on my daily drivers.
Looks like there are several to choose from, how about this, what ones do we know are made over seas?I would rather keep my money in the USA
I might get it back some day
Dave
After placing my order with Eagle Equipment in Greensboro, NC on October 1, 2013 it was finally delivered and installed on November 15, 2013. So far I couldn't be happier. Eagle GLO-8000 and an extra jack tray to lift on lift. I can put the Corvette on top or the bottom. We bought our house while in a mid-construction state. It was a finished shell with roughed in studs only inside. We actually chose this location due to the high ceilings in the house and the garage. We were thinking about the lift option then. We had the builder install the garage door tracks and opener as high as geometrically possible. They did and everything fits perfectly almost a year later. Obligatory pics:

I notice your lift is very close to the wall on the passenger side. How close to wall are the posts? Does this give you enough room to jack up and remove the wheels for brake work if you needed to? The way my garage is set up I would need to mount the lift close to the wall also.
There's 12.5 inches from the posts to the wall and 25 inches from the runway to the wall so there should be plenty of room for tire and me when I have to pull the wheels off to change to Hawk Brakes after Christmas.
