Photo Layers?
Any photographers out there who have take a digital picture of their engine area with (1) The hood closed and then (2) same shot with the hood open and used a freebie program to make a double exposure of the shot? I have been told in the digital world its called "layers". If anyone can point me in the right direction of a freebie/simple program and some guidance on how one might do something like this I would be grateful...

You could just set the exposure time very high on the camera and shoot with the hood open and half way through the exposure time close the hood. That will give the effect of a see-thru hood.
