Default Passenger Door Alignment Problem?

Had something weird happen today. As my wife was opening the passenger door to enter the car it got stuck on the front body fender and started to bend it inward. She stopped and I looked and sure enough WOW, the door was hitting the front fender and would not open. I closed the door completely, pushed around on the front fender, and tried it again, this time it worked. I've had this 09 for 3 months and never seen this happen. The gap looks tight but not really any different from the driver's side.

What could cause this to happen all of a sudden?

Door alignment issue?
Temperature issue from sun on one body panel?
Front fender alignment issue?

I'm open to suggestions and help.

If it was mine, I would take it to a professional. You could cost yourself more messing with it yourself.

was the car jacked or lifted recently? I once had another car bend slightly after being lifted by a mechanic, don't know if he had done something wrong or what...

OP's issue has been reported before, a simple (well, simple for the guys who do it all the time!) adjustment is usually the fix.

The body panels on a C6 will move noticeably as the car expands and contracts with heat, and they don't always move the same way every time. I spent a couple of hours inspecting two absolutely identical new C6's, trying to decide which had better panel fits before purchasing. Every time I walked away for 15 minutes, the sun angles changed, and so did my opinion of which car was better.

OP could have a big problem but probably not. Kudos to him and his wife for not damaging anything.

Yes! I had this same issue shortly after returning home from BG with my new vette. Took it straight to the body shop at my local Chevy dealer and they loosened the nuts on the rear portion of the passenger fender and were able to adjust the fender forward enough to clear the leading edge of the door. I was in and out in 10 minutes.

Just had this problem when temps hit 95 her today, loosening the nuts and adding a little clearance took care of it.

I have a 2010 and this has happened to me several times. Seems to happen when it is very hot out.
