Are you kidding?
A C6 could easily do but do it different.
1. The Vette is lighter. Wouldn't have to add 300 lbs of extra gas tanks with gas.
2. C6 gets a lot better gas mileage than the MB.
3. Takes about 10-15 minutes to fill up. The Vette could easily make up the time. Using GPS to plan where to fill up before taking the trip. In / out in 10-15 minutes, get back on the highway and blast.
4. Could rig the C6 with all the anti-cop gadgets also.
That MB they used is a gas eating hog. No wonder they had to add 300 lbs of gassed up gas tanks.

Eliminate #3 by refueling on the fly with CF members stationed along the route. Simply saving 6 minutes for 10 fuel stops cuts an hour off the time. 80 MPH fillup? - no problem.

They did 3 stops for gas. At those speeds a C6 is going to need at least 8 if not 10. So you are going to have to make up about an hour. Your average speed needs to be about 102. They went 158 at times so the their car was certainly capable of the additional speed but they couldn't do it. Not stopping for gas as you would have to do did make a difference.
I think the secret here is spotters. "In Pennsylvania, they tapped the first of many scouts, one of Bolian's acquaintances who drove the speed limit 150 to 200 miles ahead of the CL55 and warned them of any police, construction or other problems." 150 miles ahead seems almost worthless except for construction. Instead of paying $9,000 for a "tune-up", you put that money into a bail fund for your spotters and you all run 100 with the spotters 5-10 miles ahead. THEN you can have a single spotter 50 miles ahead looking for traffic issues. 50 miles ahead at the speed limit is going to be good for almost 2 hours. So a dozen slow spotters and a dozen fast pawns and you have a chance.
