Default radar detector

I have not had a radar detector for about 20 years, any recommendations for a decent one valentine one, escort or ETC?
looking to put one in my torch red 427, since it blends in so well!

Wow...betcha this thread will be like some of the "what is best wax threads"....Boils down to mostly personal preference and what works best for you......not to mention the opinion aspect....(every body has one)
Personally I have been using Escort almost since day one....works for me and I have no complaints with the product....saved me numerous times for sure

Beltronics, reasonably priced, great technology, have mine for over a year now and it has saved me quite a few times. Others will chime in on the Escort and Valentine, they are good, but overpriced. A lot of bucks for their marketing budget.

yeah, you may be right on that one, that is definitely an open ended question?
but at least I have it narrowed down to only 3.

Ooooh I got one for ya... if you have a TORCH RED 427, you might wanna accessorize it with the Passport 9500ix Limited Racing Edition!

It's exactly the same as the regular Passport 9500ix but has a carbon fiber appearance with a bright red stripe going down the sides and red text, which matches your red Vette in a subtle, tasteful way. Because it's a "limited edition," Escort is sold out of it but you CAN find it on eBay (here ya go... you're welcome! ).

... It's exactly what I did for my Velocity Red 2008 coupe! Looks great, works great. Already used it on a 1500 mile road trip and it had great range with blessedly few false alerts (especially around town once the detector has "learned" your surroundings). A little over the top? Yeah, maybe. But hey, I have fun with it and know that it's an excellent radar detector.

Yepper...as stated many choices and many opinions... the three that you have it narrowed down to ....won't disapoint you...enjoy your ride and have fun.....gotta admit that Vara posted a pretty cool looking Escort....I have three detectors....one 8500 for my golf ride...and two 9500ix for the Z and other car....

I have two V-1's; one for the Vette, other in the pickup. Love them both.

I couldn't agree more. Have a Bel in all my cars and they are very helpful aid in avoiding citations.

is the clip from blend mount so you can mount it right under the rearview mirror?

Let us know what you get and how it turns out.

EDIT: One quick note... if you DO get a used Passport detector on eBay (like the... Limited Racing Edition... hahaha) you might want to call Escort Customer Service to transfer the account to your email if you plan on subscribing for updates. All in all, pretty painless.

Correct. But I believe he was talking about the cord that taps into the power module behind the mirror so you don't have to run a long cord through to the cigarette lighter.

used the larger suction cup escort mount, soldered the cord directly the the switched power feed running into the mirror ,this is the hardwired module
