Default TMPS Question !!

I have a 2011 GS and am looking at buying a set of rims off a member here, his car is a 2008, will I need to get different TMPS to work in my car, I thought 05 to 09 were one style and 2010 to 13 were another I may be wrong !

I believe you are correct, and you'll need to get different TPMS sensors for the new wheels.

CF member "BEZ06" is the resident expert on TPMS, he'll know for sure.

Well, I'm BEZ06's protege (), and you are correct. You need the 2010+ sensors for your car.

I believe 2010 sensors were superceded by another part number in 2011. The 2010 sensors are unique in that they can be paired to the car while in learn mode by releasing air. All other sensors need a tool.

Yes, they changed sensors again in Jan 2011 but the new sensors still pair with the TPMS computers 2010-2013. See BEZ06's explanation here:

The 2010 sensors are getting harder to find. I will likely have to invest in a tpms tool when the batteries on my current sensors go bad and I have to replace them. Thus far, I have been able to switch between summer and winter tires without the tpms tool.
