I sold my 2011 Corvette Convertible and purchased a Porsche 911 4S. I have always wanted to try a Porsche so now is the time. Will probable return to a Corvette in 3 or 4 years.
I did it also.....a 911 C4S after my first Corvette. I liked the 911, but missed the Corvette. I'm back and on my third Corvette now (2013 GS).
What will you miss? For one thing the engine in the 911 is a freaking black box. Don't be thinking about any mods. And mods are expensive in a 911.....you have joined a whole different level of suppliers.
You will miss the sound of the big American V-8.
You will miss the $65 oil changes.....my last 911 oil change was $208.
You'll enjoy the 911....don't get me wrong......but you'll be back.
Congratulations! I'm sure you will enjoy the 911. I've owned nine Porsches (have three now) and have never been stranded on the side of the road and never done any more than routine maintenance. I will hope for the same level of satisfaction from the 08 Vette I purchased in October.
Each marque is unique and I have always considered myself one of the luckiest people on the planet to be able to have enjoyed my various rides.
Have lots of fun. And, as here, there are great people on the Porsche forums and in PCA. The saying at PCA is "It's not the car, it's the people." I'm sure that can be said of enthusiasts of all marques.
