Quick question here.. I'm installing the newest MGW into my C6, I trimmed the shifter boot ring so that it tucks around the MGW bellows. What about the OEM outer boot that clips onto when using the stock shifter? I cant find anywhere online if that outer boots get's reused, if so I think it will have to be trimmed to get it to fit.
Can anyone who's installed the newest MGW in a c6 please provide some info..
Thanks..
Outer OEM boot are you referring to the boot attached to the center console?
So there are 2 Factory Rubber boots, the one that bolts down with 4 nuts and then one that slips over the one that's bolted down. I was referring to the latter of the two.
So what exactly does the lower box DO? I have no issues with the current shift effort or vibration.
If you are happy with your current shifter than there is no reason to change.
I had the old MGW shifter and I liked it better then the OEM one for sure but I did have some slight vibrations at certain RPMs when accelerating hard.
With the newest MGW shifter and the lower box combo, everything is smooth and vibration free. That is JMO.
