Default license plate bracket

looking for a good license plate bracket, there are only two different ones I see here, they are equally as good ? I need a front plate, but usually don t have it displayed, but want to be ready when I get pulled over.

I've been really pleased with my Topflight Reproductions removable bracket. I've had it on the car for over 6 years now and it has held up perfectly. The plate that stays mounted to the car with 3M tape is still attached well and hasn't shown any signs of coming off.

does the plate portion of the bracket, where the plate attaches, not rub and chaff the paint, as it is not secured ?

Here is a link:
http://www.topflightrepro.com/corvet...brackets.shtml

The part the plate is mounted to is secured with 2 wing nuts. It doesn't move around since the nuts are tightened down. There are a couple of foam strips that you put on the back side of the plate and those are the only thing that should be touching the bumper. In fact I should probably buy the spare parts kit which includes new strips of that stuff.

x2. I have the C6 Topflight Removeable Bracket. It seems to be holding up well and looks about as good as a front license plate bracket will look.

The downside is that I've noticed about a 5-15º increase on oil temperature since installing the bracket. Just be sure to take it off if you're pushing your engine and i'm sure you'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the C6 Topflight Reproductions license plate bracket is about as good as you're going to get for mounting a license plate on the front. The quality was superb and the kit came with everything you needed to install it (even rubbing alcohol to clean the bumper).

It's held on by some strong double sided sticky tape that does it intended job very well. I've hit 130+ without issues.

You just have to remember that you're blocking about 1/3 of your front radiator and radiator fan from free flowing air. I haven't noticed any decrease in performance from the butt dyno, but I have noticed increased temperatures. I'm running an aggressive CAM and bolt ons which don't help with the heat.

If only we had a front tow hook to use as a bracket...

front tow hook

can one mount it off to the side by the turn signal, and kind of almost butt it to the opening edge ? or would that not be any better ? or is it curved to much, made to fit in the middle ?

I am on my third Top Flight removable bracket (three different vettes) and all worked very well. They are having a special right now too. If you buy the bracket and one plate frame, they will throw a second frame in for free. It's a good value, the plate frames are expensive. Here is a link to the sale. Follow the instructions to get the discount.

I think I have to scrap this plan, I went to order and can t justify spending $280. + pay pal or credit card fees for a license plate bracket.

Not me - $280 is nuts. I'll risk the ticket.

$160 ticket here, that is why I keep the plate under the seat, and slip it on the dash when necessary. not paying the vette tax.
