As I look in my garage and gaze over the beautiful lines of the c6 Z06 I come to realize ----I really don't get to enjoy it. Being 32 and having a family there is really no room for a Corvette. Instead of a 505 hp awesomobile I should have a SUV. Why does GM not produce a 4 seater Corvette honestly?? I know there are other options ie ZL1,CTSv,GTR and even a GT500. The thing is I want a Corvette.....not a Camaro or a old mans caddy. They make this car so expensive and so impractical its really useless for a family man. I take it to vette cruises, drag strips (when i have free time) and dinner dates but thats about it. In order to really enjoy the car you need to be retired and the kids out of the house. If GM wants the vette to appeal to a younger crowd then it needs to be more practical......a entry level 2+2 would be nice to have in my opinion.
I think the Vette is practical! Low initial cost - less than my f-150 and my wife's Lexus, gets better gas mileage than any other vehicle I own, and requires less maintenance than the others as well. The key is driving it as much as you can even if that's just special dates, taking a kid to school or a sports game, etc. Sometimes you need that get away just to maintain your sanity and what better thing is there. Yeah, it's not a SUV although it can carry a lot of groceries, but it is a great car none the less.

Not advocating this, but an alternative is divorced and have the kids every other week... Or should I say, Have the Vette and Girlfriend every other week.
I guess it all comes down to your life style and what you need the second car for. I had Corvette's when the kids were still at home (retired now) but we had the second car that was the family car. Oh sure I/we ran into a few times where the Corvette as a little impractical, but (in the words of Clint Eastwood) we were able to adjust and overcome. I drove the Corvette to work every day and the wife had the family car.
Now if you only have the Corvette and you have a family then I can see your point. As far as a 2+2 Corvette, bite your tongue. for 61 years now it has always been a two seater sports car. Remember what happen to the T-Bird. So I would suggest that if you cannot find a way to keep the Corvette and you still want a performance car, don't sell the CTSV short. It is not the caddy of old. Test drive one and see for yourself.
Agreed great gas milage and has alot of room in the "boot". My son is only a year old so taking him in the Z is not an option now. Though he is a Corvette already!!
Corvette and practical in the sentence - now that's funny!!!! I have my Silverado daily driver and the wife's Tahoe handles the family duties - when I do get to enjoy the vette - like taking it to the track today - it puts such a HUGE smile on my face and I forget about all the problems and worries - it's the best medication for a crazy busy hectic life. The only downside is I've only had time to put 5K miles on it in my first year of Vette ownership

Way too cool a picture heck, keep the car around for a few more years and I'll bet he gives you a run for your money plus you'll be the coolest dad in the neighborhood.

Reason: Poor typing skills
I have a 700+ hp Trans am and a 12 altima (blah) as well. The CTSv is cool just not my cup of tea. In no means do I need to sell the Vette but its sad seeing it sit there and not on the road. I think the tbird lost its appeal because of the design..... It uglier every year! My thing is Nissan can make a 2+2 low 11 sec car so why cant GM? Talking to a 19 yr old the other day and his dream car is a GTR and I was shocked the vette isnt in his top 5 cars . He was right though he really cant enjoy a vette and have a family. A GTR you can still strap your kid in though I would never buy one.

You ain't kiddin about the CTSV - I was at Willow Springs today for my first ever time on a track - had a CTSV Wagon on my *** that I couldn't outrun - granted he had a 120hp advantage on my GS - but still - for a freakin wagon that thing was impressive as hell!!!!
I know they are fast but you dont grow up looking at caddys saying "one day im gonna have one of those". Most Corvette owners have loved this car from a young age. I did not particularly like them Because I was a Knight Rider fan which ofcourse was a Trans Am. Once owning 4 Trans am its only natural to start looking at the vette. Once i saw the 01 z06 it was on!!
Im not really into track events-----the Z is just my dream car. Do have a kid? Ive owned the car for 3 years and yes it was cool to use on the weekend but now because of my son it has to sit. I try to atleast drive it once a week.

No kids here.
It just sounds like your priorities are shifting is all. In all honestly, most cars are not practical and they're not investments. A car is simply a convenient mode of transportation. All we really need is something, cheap, easy to maintain and safe (i.e. a honda / toyota or similar). Anything that does more than safely transports you is nice to have, but not a necessity.
hahahaha um no man im a car fanatic!! GM muscle cars and now Corvettes......its more than a mode of transportation to me. Both of my cars represent four hard deployments and alot of blood, sweat and tears. Once you have a child you will see what I mean. For instance in order to go to a corvette club meet now i need to have the sitter watch him. It used to be "hey baby corvette day on saturday we are going". Now its like uh family time or vette time!?!
genair I cant wait to take my son out. He assists me detailing it now and I plan on bringing him up properly.....car shows, drags and cruises. I will ensure he will not be driving a honda in his teenage years!! muscle cars then the awesome corvette!!
my corvette is an animal! fast, handles great, scary sometimes and not for the faint hearted. I have an explorer for work and wife has a Lincoln MKS. It's a sports car and is sold as such. This is my 7th, 2012 Grand Sport. My 1967 was the truest vette. Each one has their own personality. Have a wife and child we all get along The corvette is fun enjoy it. It's a "vette"

Ha ha - my 8 yr old daughter keeps telling me that she gets my vette when turns 16 !!!
