I looked at a new 2012 Grandsport earlier today. What's a realistic sale price for a "new" car that is almost 2 years old? Only had 92 miles on it.
Standard Price: $55,925
Options include:
3LT = $5,995
dual mode exhaust = $1,195
chrome wheels = $1,995
Auto = $1,250
Battery protection = $100
MSRP is $67,435
I could only get them down to $55k.
So what is a realistic price?
Thanks
You are going to get numbers all over the board but in my recent search I found the same car with a 6spd (also a vert...don't know what you are looking at) and $57k was it's low number. And I thot it was fair.
Just sayin...
On the surface that seems pretty fair to me. When you take into account that most cars depreciate about 11 percent when you drive off the lot, then take off some more for another year gone by, it seems like a good dealer price off the top of my head.
You could probably do a little better in a private sale with a very motivated seller, but that requires a lot of time and patience. You could try going on cargurus.com and get a feel of what is considered a good price for your area.
Most importantly, if it's exactly the car you want, just go for it and enjoy the drive!
I think it's a bit high, but for the real number I think you'd have to know what '12s are selling for. Period. Because the minute you drive that off the lot (and it's been driven off the lot a few times), and title it in your name it's a used car. If you turned around tomorrow and offered it for sale, what would it be worth? Ask a bank or credit union, or a used car dealer what they'd pay for it. Don't just go by advertised prices on online sites; that's what they want, not what they get.
Not a bad price. Not a great price but I think it's fair. You'll hear many stories from many people but if you are happy with it then do it. You may shop forever for the cheapest price and not find a car. Whatever works for you. Is it what you want? Does it have the options you want? Is it a color you want? If the answers are yes, then buy it. :toe tap:
I'd pay no more than 50k for it. Tell them 50k right now no games take it or leave it, if they don't take it then walk away.
55,000 is too much to pay for a 2 model year old car. I don't care what the miles are. It's a used car at this point. Looking at the % discount is not reality. look at what they're getting for low mile 2012's, that's your benchmark. It's your money. Good luck.
What is the GM incentive being given for a new 2012? For 2013s they were giving $2K plus $3K loyalty. Added to this was approx 15% dealer discount. For a base 1LT this brought the price down to approx $38.5K. A little mental massaging should yield a price under $50K for your prospect. There are forum dealers offering 22% total discounts on 2013s right now.
I'm not sure if this helps but I just picked up a c6 vert 2012 3lt for 40,000 with 5,000 miles on it. Car is like new and I'm real happy with it. They also had a black GS 2012 3LT with a little over 8,000 miles on it and he wanted 44,000 and change. So if you don't mind a few miles on them maybe this is the way to go. I had looked for over a month on all kinds of sites before traveling 300 miles to buy one. Just make sure as I was told by the guys on this forum CHECK EVERTHING.
Depending on how much work you're willing to put into it, you can call a supporting dealer near you and ask them what their price would be if they got the car from the dealer who has it now. OR
Find a similar car at another dealer and ping pong their offers back and forth. That's how I buy my cars and it's turned out well for me.
