I am finding some bugs with the car now that I got it back from its 5 month stay at the body shop.
For the second time I have a bolt sticking out of the power steering pump and it is bouncing of the back side of the pulley. I have replaced this bolt before because it broke off at the end of the threads and walked out to the pulley. If you are looking down from the drivers side it is on the passenger side of the pump and goes into the block just above the power steering line. Once it walks out you can't push it back in because the flared head hits the pump housing. To get to all of this is a PIA because you have to take the ALT off, it's bracket, the PS reservoir, the belt, etc. WHY DO I KEEP BREAKING THIS BOLT?
If you had a thread title like "Bolt sticking out of power steering pump", then someone with experience with it might see your thread and offer some assistance.
That's about all the help I can give. With a thread title like that, no one knows what you need.
It turns out the bolt backed out but it was still a PIA to deal with. I spun out all the bolts in the alt/PS bracket about 90%. This allowed me to get that one bolt in far enough to expose the threads on the back side of the bracket. I took a small paint brush and applied blue lock tight to the threads. Then I took a grinder to a 15mm box wrench so it would fit on the head without hitting the PS case. It took what felt like hours to tighten that bolt up a micro turn at a time but I got it done. I will be keeping my eye on it from now on because that bolt is a major PIA to get tight once it walks out.
