Default Retractable front plate bracket

For those who have tried these retractable brackets, which one is the best quality and most durable? Thanks for any input/information. My vette is a 2009 coupe.

I put Show-n-Go on my 12 GS, did not like it. Anything I meen just a little dirt on the cable and it stops running. To me the motor is just to weak. Also sticks down an inch or so below the car. When the plate is hidden it takes a beating from being so low. Just my thoughts. I replaced it with the same type but no motor.

I’m on my second ‘Show N Go’ plate in three years. For me, it works well since I often have to drive through a municipality where they aggressively enforce every regulation and fine heavily for even the most minor offenses (they need the money).

But I wouldn’t recommend it for DDs. As mentioned above, it is flimsy and I don’t think it would stand up well to the elements. The mechanism is operated by a very thin cable wrapped around small exposed pulleys. It is sure to bind if it collects some road grit. Mine is a fair weather car so it’s not much of an issue. I occasionally spray silicone lubricant on it. An oil-based lubricant would attract more grit.

It also hangs down low at curb height – touch a curb once and it’s toast. That’s why I’m on my second one.

What happens when you touch a curb:

I have used a removable plate from Mid America on my prior ZO6 and my current 427---highly recommend them. Believe my part # was 648740. There is another part # for the non ZO6 and 427. The plate and frame simply slide on and off...........and you do not see the bracket when the plate is off. No drilling, etc---think the holding bracket bolts on behind the front bumper facia. I feel it is sturdy for everyday driving----I rarely take mine off anymore--even at shows and cruise nights I leave it on because so many people have the front plates now in MA. Where I live in MA the places that issue the state required annual sticker for the cars are more and more reluctant (most refusing) to give us a sticker without a front plate now.
