Default Check Engine Codes

I recently had check engine light analyzed and indicated 2 codes. P1825-internal mode switch and P0700-transmission control module. I would appreciate any insight/advice on addressing these codes! Thanks in advance…Wayne.

The most common problem seen in the A6, but less so since about the 2010 model year.

The P0700 means nothing, it's just the code that is set when the TCM has a failed self diagnostic.

The P1825 is the failure that requested the P0700. The P1825 is from the IMS (Internal Mode Switch). This likely means that the mode switch detected a condition that didn't agree with the mechanical shift. The IMS is basically an electrical confirmation of a mechanical action within the automatic transmission. The shift lever will move some slides that will open fluid ports. The IMS will look to confirm that the mechanical switch took place.

You're looking at a dealer visit. It isn't a terrible failure but they do have to drop the trans pan to get to the IMS.
