Default Should I be Concerned?

I pulled off my fuel rail covers tonight to start the painting process and I noticed about a 1" x 1" notch cut out in the forward part of the passenger side FRC and wondered WTF could this be for...After a little research, I noticed that cars with a centri supercharger have this cut out for one of the brackets. The car did not come with a supercharger.

When I bought my car it had ~18,000 miles and I had to replace the plugs (incorrect plugs installed) and a damaged plug wire (replaced all of them). The car runs really strong but I am concerned at how much the engine may have been pushed by the previous owner. I am also concerned that there was a tune on the car for the supercharger but was never uninstalled or flashed back to stock when the supercharger was removed. Could this cause any damage?

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? What components would be the most likely to fail?

KISS system imo.. take a sample of your oil and have it analyzed at next oil change.. Other than that, if it runs well keep it.

having aid that, you should try and track down the answers you seek though.

through communications with the previous owner/s you may be able to find out if car was tracked, run with DR's all the time on street creating more stress than just spinning the tires etc etc.. the stress isn't just on internal engine components. it can be spread throughout driveline.

Heck you could find out the engine was rebuilt and everything inside is new with little or no stress from a blower..

As for the tune, you're going to have to hit up a tuner and have the file read out..

Good luck, i'm sure it'll work out fine man.

If you're worried about a tune being on there, take it to a good (trusted) vette dealer and have them flash the ECM and TCM back to stock. They will charge you for an hour labor (about 100-125) and you will have piece of mind. I just had mine reflashed and it was done in no time and prepared for a better tune than I had on there before, plus I now have the stock tune to reflash back if i need to.

It could have also been as simple as that the previous owner installed a catch can and made the cut so the hoses could pass through.

thanks for the info guys. I am going to get an oil change today and will talk with my mechanic about it. The car runs great but I just don't want something to bite me down the road.

If it runs great, why worry? Practically speaking there isn't a lot you can do, and something down the road can bite anybody.
