Default Car Retired

After using my 2008 Z06 as my daily driver I have decided to only use it on weekends. My previous two Z06's were garage queens and when I purchased my 3rd one I was determined not to have it sit. Well, 17 months have passed and finacially I am in a better position to afford to have it sit once again. With that said I was fortunate enough to purchase a very clean 2005 Acura RSX Type S which will become my daily driver back and forth to work. Because I want to keep the Acura inside my attached garage I am planning on keeping my Z06 inside my barn that is on my property. Here is the problem, the barn is just a barn, full of cobwebs and little ctitters. I do have a double horse stall that was converted where I was able to cutout the front of the stall and build a large 8 foot by 12 foot wide door that is hinged on one side giving me acess to a 13 by 23 foot room. The right side and back side of this stall are fully enclosed while the left side is covered 4 feet hight with the other 4 feet open but has a 4 foot rought iron fence. I don't really want to change the appearance of this size so I am open to suggestions on how to protect my car from the spiders and small critters. I was thinking about purchasing one of the car tents that has enclosed sides which i could easily place in that size stall and still keep the barn looking like a barn. The nice part is that I do not have top worry about the floor. The previous owner was able to get rubber conveyor matting that is on the floor and is almost 1/2 inch in thickness making for a very good stong floor. I also am thinking about making a tent out of 1 1/2 inch PVC tubing and then just cover it with 4 mil thick clear plastic. Any other suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've had success with the "Car Jacket". I put on a car cover and then the jacket over the cover. Drive it onto the jacket, put on the regular car cover, then cover with the "Car Jacket" and zip it up. It keeps the pesky critters out. If you want, you can even route the battery charger out the end where the zipper stops. I have used this method for about 5 years now and had no problems.

Good luck. I hope this works for you.

The car jacket may be the ticket but I would pass on the car cover unless the car is clean and dust free everytime you put it on the car. How about a hoist in the attached garage?

Barns are for critters. The Z06 stays in the garage . . . its deserves it.

Keep the Acura outside - it can easily handle it. The RSX will run forever, start in 0 degree or 100 degree weather, and the paint and interior will remain perfect with basic care, even if not garaged.

First, I think I would consider continue using the ZO6. Why not? Second, mice will be your worst enemy so a car bubble would be a good idea. Mice can make a major mess very quickly and can get through any hole they can get their head through so a car bubble, or somethng similar, would be a great idea.

I agree. What is stopping me is that my barn has no driveway going to it so I would have to drive my car over my grass. If I did that with my daily driver it would start to affect the grass by leaving tire marks creating worn spots. I don't have this problem when I drive over it only once or twice a week. i dfinitely will not consider putting in a driveway because the costs would be too expensive so that is not an option.

I got it . . . and not knowing your setup I was kind of kidding when I posted. So just don't keep that Acura in the garage or the barn . . . just keep it outside on the street full time, and then buy a horse or an ATV for the barn Good luck !

John...Think you hit it on the head....mice would be my major worry and would even think they could eventually get through that plastic... as my moniker says....you cannot drive a dollar bill....so who are you saving your car for?...Hell enjoy it while you can......at least switch the cars off now and again

Don't use schedule 40 pipe, it won't hold up. If you are going to use PVC go schedule 80. Much heavier - sturdy! Personaly, I would use aluminum tubing and weld it together. It will bend if you hit it, PVC will shatter.
