Default NPP System

Anyone have an idea as to what it would cost to have the NPP system installed as an add on? I love my new (to me) 2010 GS, the only disappointment is not having the NPP. I actually pulled the fuse to open the baffles only to discover there were none. I thought the NPP was standard. That's what I get for assuming I guess.

NPP as an option cost $1,195, adds 6hp and sounds awesome. Look here....

Used Z06 NPP mufflers on Ebay too.

Good luck on finding a used set. I check this site, e-bay and craigslist all the time. Rare. There is always the Z06 NPP for sale though, has a little different sound and not a direct fit.

You can check GM for new prices... more than a dedicated system like Corsa or Borla. I think I'm just going to get the Corsa Sport or Borla S Type II. Those systems have no drone.

Switching back and forth from loud to quiet seems cool but that would get old after a while for me. For me a dedicated not too loud, not too quiet system seems ideal.

Yeah man, this is why I LOVE my NPP so much. It defaults to quiet for cruising, and it barks when you hit the go-pedal. The NPP is the best exhaust I've ever had, and I've been a gearhead for 40 years....

Why is it that it's always the people that don't have the npp that knock it.

I have the Billy Boat Fusion which is basically a aftermarket NPP and I love it. I installed it myself but would not have attempted the install with out a lift.

You can figure on $600-$800 for the used mufflers (2009 and up should bolt right up) and then you'll need some sort of NPP in a Box system (controller, wires and such) for another $100-$300.

You'll need to make sure that the mufflers are NPP and not Z06 take offs as the Z06 mufflers are not as loud and they won't fit without some extra work (though some guys will modify the Z06 mufflers for extra sound).

Depending on how handy you are you can do the install (bolting up the mufflers, running / hooking up the wires, running / hooking up the vacuum lines) yourself on jack stands or pay someone with a lift to do it. It's not that hard if you are handy and have the right tools.

Ditto ditto double ditto. Npp rocks, loud when you want, qiuet when you want. Any other exhaust, you get what you get, it may drone, etc. You have to like it, you have no choice.

We all like to believe that it stands for something very sophisticated, i believe it is just one of those hundreds of production codes. No special meaning.

I just switched to just the z06 mufflers with muffler mod/mild to wild switch to a full z06 exhaust , manifolds cats x pipe and mufflers... cost me around 250 for the z06 set up, mufflers were all ready on the car, and muffler mod was 150.00 at my muffler shop....
When on the freeway hit the switch and its nice and quiet... always open around town.
the 3in setup is awesome.... even feel a little extra in the seat of the pants dyno....

Help me out here. How am I knocking this popular system when I say switching back and forth would get old for me? All I know about the system is what I read on this forum. I've read that it drones when open on the highway. I've read that like the adjustable suspension, that after awhile some just put it on one setting and leave it. Knowing my habits, that sounds like me: not wanting to frequently hit a switch to change the car.

Why would I want to knock one of the most popular systems for the car? The OP seems new to the c6 so I was just trying to present a balanced summation from what I'd gleaned from reading many threads on the system over the years.

on my old C6, I added this.

Used set of ZO6 mufflers, did the muffler mod to them, then installed them and the NPP in a box from a vendor, was great.

I have NPP's on my car, they are always open and I have never experienced "drone". If everone experienced the side effects listed on specific meds they would be banned. Not everyone experiences the same. FWIW. Besides, you can just close them, that's why they're NPP's. I can't remember reading about a drone complaint by someone that has functioning NPP's.

I added it to my 07, one of my best mods.

My '08 vert did not come with NPP. I found a used set at Corvettes of Dallas and drove down on my birthday and had them installed along with the controller and a great looking exhaust plate enhancer. The entire bill was just under $1,100.

It was well worth it! I will not have another vette without NPP. I love the sound and as others have stated, I never had a problem with drone. I left mine open all of the time.

I can see where a 'vert may not have drone. However, for those that have a coupe, at low rpms with the flaps open there's drone. Whether or not it's objectionable is a matter of preference and tolerance (for me it depends how long I'll be stuck in that rpm range). To say drone is not there is : and you need to get your hearing checked.
