Hi... Can someone educate me on the details of buying a code reader to read out codes on a 2012 C6? I'm having a sporadic starting issue and some folks have suggested reading diagnostic codes might be of benefit. I did a bit of reading but I still have questions. Is the connector (OBD?) easy to find?? On the steering column or somewhere else??? Are there risks to hooking up a code reader or is it straightforward??? Any particular code reader that folks like?? Not sure I will pursue this but would like to learn a little more about them. Can anyone help?? thanks... bob..

Should be the standard under the steering wheel OBD plug . Some of the canned tune units change your stock tune and read codes / reset . Post over in the tune section ,they have more hands on time.
Very simple to do. Here is a quick video--This is the same reader I have for mine. Great price. you can buy more expensive ones that do more but for just reading codes this Autel does the trick
Just plug in the reader to the ODBII port on the car (bottom left below the steering wheel just like the video). turn the ignition to the on position(dont start it). read the codes..Your done
Amazon has some very inexpensive readers...around $20. Make sure the one you get says that it is CAN compatible, since this is the standard of communication that the C6 uses. A simple reader is small enough that you can leave it in the car.
