Default clutch location

I have been searching for 45 minutes and can not find anything definite, where is the clutch located? behind the engine or in front of the transmission?

Behind the engine. To replace/service it you need to drop the rear axle.... transmission and pull the torque tube out of the bell housing and there it is. Not really a big job IF you have a lift and a good transmission jack or 2. Rear end comes out fairly easy.

I did mine a few years back just researching how tos in about 8 hours.

Thanks, I found a diagram of the shift linkage as I was unsure of its operation but not the clutch. I may be upgrading. I was being bad and tried a burnout, 1st gear was fish tailing a bit but when I hit 2nd the rpm went up but the tires were not spinning, then I smelled the clutch. Also the clutch pedal went to the floor. I drove easy for a mile then put it in 4th and gave it gas and it hooked fine. I have launched hard since with no slippage.

Both.

But MUCH closer to the engine than the transmission. It's in the same position (bolted to the flywheel) as a front transmission car.
