Default Curb alert question

So I just finished installing a curb alert on my 12 GS. Install was a piece of cake. A couple of questions though:

1. I have a m2w switch plugged into the seat warmer fuse. A bit of searching led me to a suggestion of using the onstar fuse. That worked. However, the curb alert was still going off with the car off while I was walking around cleaning up. Is this normal?

2. If the curb alert will still go off with the car off, how will the use of a car cover affect it?

The Curb Alert is supposed to turn off when it no longer senses charging current. In other words, when the alternator is not running.

I suggest that you hook the Curb Alert power wire straight to the positive terminal that hooks to the fuse box under the hood.

That works for me.

The curb alert will continue to operate for about 10 minutes after shutdown. Wait 10 minutes after shut down and test the curb alert, it will not beep until you start up again. The blind spot monitors on my daily driver work the same way.

I also hooked mine up the way TCW did, power wire to the positive terminal at the fuse box under the hood, ground to the ground post under the hood on the frame. Only had to run the one wire inside the car for the beeper.

I think the OnStar system is always powered, since they can find your car and unlock your doors even with it not running. Just a thought.
