How many are using an electric orbital buffer to apply and remove wax ,polish ect. and if so do you have to worry about swirl marks I,m not looking for what is easier or quicker I,m looking for what gives the best finish am I better off just doing it by hand? thanks Jack.

Random Orbital such as Porter Cable is the most popular.. I don't use it for WAX but I use it for all polishing and sealants. I use Carnuba and it goes on better with a hand pad and wipes right off. The general consensus around here is:
1. Wash with Dawn (Blue only)
2. Claybar with details spray as lube
3. Wash again
4. Paint corrections - swirl removal, compounding etc. (with RA Polisher)
5. Finish Polish (with RA Polisher)
6. Paint Sealant (with RA Polisher)
7. Wax (or Rejex??) (I do this by hand)
8. Final detail spray.

Of course this all goes out the window if you want to drink the Zaino Coolaid.. Then there are several more steps!!

I use mine for Swirl and Haze remover as well as polish and the in between glaze application. I don't use it for my wax that I do by hand. If you get a true Orbital such as the Ports Cable brand, you cannot hurt your paint. It sure beats doing it by hand. I apply it with the specific pads need for the different applications, then I will change to a soft pad, lay a double soft micro fiber towel on the surface, place the buffer pad on it wrap the excess towel around the buffer handle and let it do the work of removing as well as buffing the finish. I do move the towel surface around so as no to build up the polish in one spot on the towel.

I have the Porter Cable unit as well

It's a great unit, and if you press down to hard, it slows down to the point that you won't burn swirl marks in the paint.

Generally, I apply by hand, and use the machine to finish things up.

Highly recommend the PC

I own a Flex but only use it for polishing or removing swirls or scratches. All my waxing is done by hand.

Once you own a good orbital you can't do without. On Sunday we went to pick up our dog at the kennel and there were a bunch of dogs running around. One ambitious chocolate lab decided to jump on the door of my Tundra and left two huge claw marks. Ten minutes with the Flex and the door looked better than new. I could of never got those marks out by hand.
