Default short throw shifter question?

okay so a while ago I put a hurst short throw in my vette. the shifter is technically made for a 2005-2007 but I have a 08. the only difference is that the screw hole for the stock shifter **** is a little lower than where the hole in my shift **** is... is there anyway I can make the stock shifter **** fit on my short throw... the ball is getting pretty annoying?

I have no experience with the hurst. I have the MGW. The MGW has a choice over a stock shift **** or theirs. If want to use the stock, it uses a larger shaft. Their **** uses a smaller shaft. If the hurst shaft is smaller than the hole on the shift ****, you may need to talk to a machine shop to make an adapter. The adapter may make the **** sit higher. This would not be much of a short throw shifter.

thanks for you input... I actually just figured it out I hollowed out the stock shifter then drilled a hole a little ways down from the screw hole and it worked... it actually sits lower than the ball did now. thanks again.

I was considering the MGW short throw for my 2013 427. I had the Hurst short throw in my 02 Z06 and it made a characteristic noise upon acceleration. Didn’t like it. Anything similar with the MGW and how do you like it?

Tons of positive feedback on the MGW. I have one and have no issues. It does require more effort, but if you do the anti-venom mod, it will actually shift easier than stock but still be much more precise.

After trying Hurst, B&M and others I finally found the MGW. Installed it about a year ago and couldn't be happier. If you buy the MGW shifter go ahead and get the billet box also, no more noise issues. As mww3519 said the "anti-venom" mod reduces the shift effort of the MGW to near OEM levels. I did the anti-venom mod using just 1 washer and was happy while others use 2 to make the shift effort even easier.

Do a search you will find more details. I did mine awhile back. Basically there is a detent bolt in the transmission that you back out, put one or two copper washers on, then put the bolt back in. The washers are a specific size but if you search this sight or even google it you can find the exact part number. I went to Nappa auto, they didn't have it in stock, but ordered it and I had it next day.

Here ya go Tommy http://www.toquez06.com/avm.html The write up is for a C5 but the C6 is the same. Simply and effective mod, took about 15 minutes to do. Enjoy.
