I asked this question before but it quickly got pushed to the older posts. I am wondering if charging the battery, (located in the passenger compartment) could harm the leather interior of the 4LT with the release of gases. Is it advised to leave the widows down?Or does it matter? Thoughts?
I guess I don't quite understand your question. "the ones in the passenger compartment"??? Your car only has one battery. It is either under the hood in the engine compartment, or in the rear compartment behind the passenger seat (rear corner). It does not hurt either to charge without a window being open. No gases to worry about. I keep mine on a trickle charger (Z06 so my battery is in rear compartment) with the hatch closed.

That was a typo, should have read in the passenger compartment. Thanks
The gas emitted is hydrogen and it is piped outside the car through the hose connected to the battery. It is basically harmless other than being flammable in high concentrations.
I dont believe the batteries release any gases and if they did it wouldn't go in the interior. I keep a battery tender on mine all the time. I have three boat batteries and a riding lawn mower battery on tenders all winter long and never noticed any gasses coming out of them.

The battery has a port that connects to a tube, but I didn't know whether or not it worked while the car is sitting.

They definitely give off gases, that's why it is advised not to charge in enclosed areas. With the Grand Sport and Z06's, the battery is located in the rear of the trunk area, inside the passenger compartment.
No....I never had any problems with batteries in the cabin compartment had a 77 for 13 years...if you want reassurance get a sealed battery, they are better anyways.

Should not be a problem. I keep mine on a Battery Tender when not in use.
