'07 Vert: Is the trunk light supposed to come on when you open the trunk? I seem to remember that it does, and that actually makes sense.
I got rear-ended and repaired recently and post repair my trunk light does NOT turn on when I open the trunk. However if I unlock the car while the trunk is open the lamps turn on. After that if I close and re-open the trunk the lamps illuminate. Puzzling.....
It is however puzzling that I just now opened the trunk and the lights did come on. The car had been parked for about 2 hours. This morning after the car had sat all night, unlocked, I opened the trunk and they did not come on until I hit the unlock button on the FOB.

Wild guess - bad lid ajar switch connection? I believe that switch saying the lid is open is what tells the BCM to turn on the lights. Pressing the FOB button would click the solenoid producing vibration that... Have you tried banging on stuff when the lights don't come on?
BTW, interesting fact of the day - did you know that if the air bags go off and it is dark outside and the ignition is on a timer starts and 15 seconds later all the interior lights come on and stay on until one of the above conditions changes or the battery goes dead?
